Word Age: The Grand Expedition is a mobile word game made in Godot. It’s free to play, with in-app purchases and ads. I helped make it as part of my employment at Night Owl Productions.
I was asked by Night Owl’s founder, Adam Doolittle, in July 2025 to join him in developing a mobile game. It was an incredible opportunity, and I am grateful to my work at DigiPen (specifically, Green Reaper) for the ability to connect with him.
I was the lead programmer for Word Age, and handled the majority of gameplay and similar code (most of the platform integration code was handled by Adam.) While I had prototyped some games in Godot before, this was my first serious project, and I learned a lot.
It’s a cool game, and it’s still being updated circa March 2026, so you should check it out! Not just because doing so will earn the company I work for money, though that’s nice as well.
